Infos zur Schließung des Grotians

Liebe Kommiliton:innen,
wie viele von euch bereits mitbekommen haben, sind die Lernräume des Grotrians während der Prüfungsphase nicht als Lernort zugänglich. Die TU Braunschweig sah sich gezwungen, den Grotrian zu schließen, da nach eigener Aussage „ein uneingeschränkter Prüfungsbetrieb“ nicht mehr möglich war. Als Grund wurden Sachbeschädigungen und das Verrücken von Tischen und Stühlen durch die Studierenden genannt.
Die Studierenden erreichte diese Information am 27. Juli 2023 über eine Story auf dem Instagram Account der TU Braunschweig.
Zuvor wurde im Studierendenparlament am 17. Juli 2023 in Anwesenheit des Vizepräsidenten für Studium und Lehre intensiv über die Angelegenheit diskutiert. Wir, als AStA-Vorstand, haben uns dabei klar gegen die Schließung ausgesprochen und angeboten, bei der Lösungsfindung zu unterstützen.
Ohne weitere Absprache und ohne eine offizielle Information, wurde der Grotrian am 21. Juli 2023 dennoch als Lernort geschlossen. Dies erfuhren wir im Vorfeld lediglich auf Anfrage bei dem Gebäudemanagement. Eine offizielle Mitteilung durch das Präsidium haben wir nicht erhalten.
Der AStA ist aktuell im Austausch mit dem Vizepräsidenten für Studium und Lehre sowie mit dem Gebäudemanagement, um eine Lösung zu finden, die sowohl den ordnungsgemäßen Prüfungsbetrieb, als auch die Nutzung des Grotrians als Lernort sicherstellt. Dabei werden wir uns für eine Wiedereröffnung einsetzen, da wir nicht hinter der getroffenen Entscheidung stehen, alle Studierenden, die den Grotrian als Lernort nutzen, kollektiv zu bestrafen und die Kommunikation seitens der TU Braunschweig nicht akzeptabel finden.
Als Lernorte stehen euch u.a. der Glaskasten, die Bibliothek und das Studihaus im Wendenring 1-4 weiterhin zur Verfügung. Schlüssel für die Arbeitsräume im Studihaus bekommt ihr beim AStA.

Dear fellow students,
as many of you have already noticed, the study rooms of the Grotrian are not accessible as a place to study during the exam period. The TU Braunschweig was forced to close the Grotrian because, according to its own statement, "an unrestricted examination operation" was no longer possible. The reason given was damage to property and the moving of tables and chairs by students.
This information reached the students on July 27 via a story on the Instagram account of the TU Braunschweig.
Prior to this, the matter was intensively discussed in the student parliament on July 17, 2023, in the presence of the Vice President for Studies and Teaching. We, as AStA, have spoken out clearly against the closure and offered our support in finding a solution.
Without further consultation and without any official information, the Grotrian was nevertheless closed as a place of learning on July 21. We learned this only on inquiry with the building management. We did not receive an official communication from the presidium.
The AStA is currently in contact with the vice president for studies and teaching as well as with the building management to find a solution that ensures both the proper examination process and the use of the Grotrian as a place of learning. We will advocate for a reopening, as we do not stand behind the decision made to collectively punish all students who use the Grotrian as a place of learning and do not find the communication on the part of the TU Braunschweig acceptable.
The glass box, the library and the Studihaus in Wendenring 1-4, among others, will continue to be available to you as learning spaces. You can get keys for the study rooms in the Studihaus from the AStA.
